TAFT Psychological Services was established by Dr. Kaila Dickstein, Psy. D. in 2012 with the goal of bringing high quality, individualized therapeutic care to adults, children and their families. Dr. Dickstein spent the last 15 years working in a variety of school settings as a school psychologist helping children, parents and school staff navigate the complex world of special education. With the start of the pandemic in 2020, Dr. Dickstein shifted from the school setting to individual practice.
The pandemic has been a collective trauma from which we are all trying to recover and incorporate into our new normal. Having a safe and comfortable space to understand and process each person’s life obstacles and challenges, with the background of this trauma is an important perspective to adopt. Every client and therapist pairing is different. Not every pairing will fit as well as others and the goal of every therapeutic relationship is for the therapist to act as a competent and supportive guide in navigating each client's map of unique challenges in life. I believe that the most important aspect of the relationship is the ability to be honest about the process--what works will differ for everyone. I aim to tailor treatment to each client so that he or she leaves the office feeling heard, understood and confident about the therapeutic journey.
I work with children, adults, families and couples. As a certified school psychologist, I have additional understanding of the school systems and its systematic challenges. Bullying and social difficulties are my areas of expertise.
At TAFT Psychological Services, the goal is to provide the highest quality care to you, your children and your family. Testing and evaluation is available to highlight core difficulties for identified patients and to guide outpatient treatment and inform other systems about each individual.
